HNZ: Replacing the National Immunisation Register (NIR) with the new Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR)

HNZ: Replacing the National Immunisation Register (NIR) with the new Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR)

Kia ora Practice Managers,

We’d like to share some information below on the Aotearoa Immunisation Register.

The Aotearoa Immunisation Register (AIR) will eventually replace the current National Immunisation Register (NIR) and supersede the COVID-19 Immunisation Register (CIR). From the 9th  November 2022, General Practices are scheduled to start receiving notifications when any of their enrolled patients have received MMR vaccinations elsewhere that have been recorded in AIR, this is the same as the messages you currently receive from NIR. Vaccinations recorded in the AIR will not be included when a status query is requested via your Patient Management System (PMS) to NIR. To get a complete picture of a consumers vaccination records, we encourage you to contact our online helpdesk by emailing onlinehelpdesk@health.govt.nz or calling 0800 855 066 (press *4 and then *1) or alternatively view  here who you can contact in your region. We expect these numbers to be very small and will be adult only vaccines in the first instance and you should be notified of your own enrolled patients if they have been vaccinated.

Once the GP notification system is set up, you will only need to contact the AIR Admin or the helpdesk for casual or non-enrolled consumers. To fully understand what these changes mean for you please follow the link to the AIR webpage here.

The next phase of AIR development will focus on the integration of the AIR with general practice systems and work is underway with vendors to support this development.

Ngā mihi nui,

Sandy

Please  note:  As I am WFH from overseas at the moment, and due to the time difference, my hours of work is altered.  I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as I can, but sometimes it may not be until the next day when I respond. Thank you so much for your understanding and patience.
