I have been a member of PMAANZ since 1999 when I began my practice management career at Onslow Medical Centre, where I stayed for almost 10 years. After a two year break I joined Newlands Medical Centre, where an innovative team of business partners keep me busy – life is never dull!
I thrive on the variety of our role, which is continually changing and developing. The support and wisdom that I’ve received from colleagues in PMAANZ has been my lifeline and I value the friendships that have resulted from the network.
For me, PMAANZ is all about relationships and supporting each other– locally in our branches, nationally within PMAANZ and the wider health sector, and internationally. Through attendance at AAPM conferences, and through the Joint Education Symposium in Wellington in 2014, I have made some great contacts amongst our Australian colleagues, and that is a relationship I am keen to continue. There is a wonderful opportunity for mutual learning to be had. In August 2016 I became the first non-Australian to be accepted as a Fellow of AAPM.
Outside of work, you’ll find me with my nose in a good book, at a movie, in the kitchen, or catching up with friends over wine or coffee. They are my “happy places” where I recover from our increasingly busy work life.
I am excited by the challenges ahead and looking forward to contributing as a member of the Executive.
